Anthony Pohl Obituary

Anthony H. "Tony" Pohl Grand Ledge Age 83, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2010. He was born on February 18, 1927 in Grand Ledge, Mi the son of Anthony and Dora (Rademacher) Pohl. Mr. Pohl was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Westphalia and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was a Veteran of World War II serving as a Pharmacy Corpsman in the U.S. Navy and a member of the Fowler, Pewamo, Westphalia VFW Post #3733. He had a love for flying airplanes and woodworking and was also a lifetime member of the Western Michigan Harley Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine Elizabeth Pohl; brother, Robert Pohl. Surviving are his wife, Ellen Pohl of Grand Ledge; children, Linda (Chuck) Griffin of Clarksville, David (Ann) Pohl of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Susan (Mark) Melendy of Beverly Hills, MI, Theresa (Harold) Sattazahn of Mason, Steven Pohl of Grand Ledge, and James (Lori) Pohl of Kalamazoo; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother, Elvan (Mary Ellen) Pohl of Westphalia; sister, Jeanette Beachnau of Westphalia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marie Pohl of Westphalia, Wilma (Francis) Trierweiler of Westphalia, Marie Harvey of Haslett, Marie Cook of Portland, Margie Gregg of Florida, Joan (Carl) Huhn of Dewitt, and Blanche Cook of Lyons; several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Westphalia with Msgr. Sylvester Fedewa, presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia with Military Honors being provided by the Fowler, Pewamo, Westphalia VFW Post #3733. The family will receive friends at the St. Mary Funeral Chapel, Westphalia from 7-9 p.m. Sunday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. The rosaries will be prayed at 8 p.m. Sunday and 3 p.m. Monday. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation in memory of Mr. Anthony H. "Tony" Pohl. Please accept out sincere condolances and shared grief in your lose. Tony was a true character that I have many memories of from my childhood. His spirit will live on in his family. We send our love and join you in celebrating his life; a life well lived.
