Bernice Sanborn Obituary

Bernice L. "Bernie" Sanborn Mulliken Passed away August 25, 2009. She was born August 19, 1915 in Mecosta, Michigan to the late Nelson and Lilah (Fleck) Stephens. Bernice was a retired nurse working for Sparrow and Ingham Medical Center and was also a faithful member of Liberty Church in Grand Ledge. Her family remembers what a great cook she was and how much they loved her homemade cookies and coleslaw but for many people they will remember her quick wit and great sense of humor that kept them laughing. Bernice is survived by her daughter, Joan Farr of Mulliken; grandson Scott (Cheryl) Farr of Eaton Rapids; great-grandchildren Erik, Elana, and Jason; sister Jeanette Stephens of Las Vegas and brother The Reverend Douglas (Gloria) Stephens of Grand Ledge. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl R. March 7, 1982 and siblings Bruce Stephens, Irene Wilson, Verma Collins, and infant sister Maxine Marie. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 28, 2009, 1:00 p.m. at The Liberty Church 12745 Georgia Ave. Grand Ledge with The Reverend David D. Stephens, officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Grand Ledge. The family will receive friends Thursday 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, Grand Ledge.
