Catherine Chartrand Obituary

Catherine Marie Chartrand Portland Age 85, passed away on October 22, 2010 after a life filled with love and family. Mrs. Chartrand was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the V.F.W. Post #4090 Ladies Auxiliary. She worked for the Valley City Milling Company and Holly Carburetor Co. for several years when she was younger. Catherine loved playing cards with her family and especially liked spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enriched the lives of all the people she knew. On June 12, 1946 she married Raymond Chartrand and they shared 64 years together. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cyril and Antoinette (Bohr) Smith; brothers, Jim, Joe, Bernard, and David Smith; granddaughter, LeeAnn Platte; great granddaughter, Alyssa Cassel; great grandson, Ryker Larson. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Raymond: children, Gary (Marlene) Chartrand, Sandy (Hilary) Platte, Tim Chartrand, Kathy (Dan) Shattuck, Becky (Nick) Henry, Mary (Dave) Dothsuk, Shelly Chartrand, Lisa (Terry) Morris; daughter-in-law, Marty Chartrand; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lou Fox, Marge Smith and Marilyn Eliser; special friend John West The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family received friends 7-9 p.m., Sunday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. The rosaries were prayed at 8 p.m. Sunday, and 8 p.m on Monday. Online condolences may be made at www.schraubenlehman.com
