David Ouderkirk Obituary
David Gordon Ouderkirk Midland David Gordon Ouderkirk, 62 of Midland and long time resident of the Lansing area, died Wednesday evening June 2, 2010 at Tendercare of Midland. He was born on November 20, 1947 in Mt. Pleasant, son of Vale F. Ouderkirk and the late Thelma D. (Yager) Ouderkirk. David had spent most of his life in the Lansing area. He attended Williamston Schools. David married the former Diane (Moore) Rankin on November 29, 1996 in Lansing. She died on February 11, 2010. He had worked for auto dealerships and had ended up working at Magna Power-Train. David loved to go camping. He loved his family and above all loved his wife. He was involved in Special Olympics and was a member of a pool league. David served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He is survived by his father, Vale F. Ouderkirk of Midland; by his children, Tracy Ouderkirk, Kimberly Meece and Michael Ouderkirk; by his step-children, Jennifer Archambault and Jason Wojack; by his brother, Paul (Janine) Ouderkirk of Hope; his sister, Diane Stone of Rosebush; and by sister-in-law, Becky Ouderkirk, 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and all his friends at Tendercare. In addition to his wife and mother, David was predeceased by brothers, Edward Ouderkirk, Daniel Ouderkirk and Stephen Ouderkirk. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010, from the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Rev. Wayne Shidler will officiate. Burial will be in the Eaton Rapids Cemetery. David's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Great Lakes Hospice (Eaton Rapids) or Heartland Hospice. Full Military Honors will be presented by the Midland Area Veterans. David's family would like to give a special Thank You to all the staff at Tendercare for their loving care given to David.
