Dayton Belman Obituary

Dayton D. Belman Mason Dayton D. Belman, 97, of Plains Road in Mason, MI died peacefully on Thursday, August 5, 2010, after a short stay at the Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte, MI. Dayton was born on June 5, 1913 to Naaman and Ida Belman. Dayton married Vivian Clark on April 16, 1938, who preceded him in death on 2003. Dayton is survived by four sons, Joseph (Linda) Belman of Mason, MI, Robert (Barbara Jean) Belman, of Anchorage, Alaska, Daniel (Sally) Belman, of Irons, Michigan, Elmer Belman, of Sylvannia, Ohio; and two daughters, Marlene Nyitray, of Sylvannia, Ohio, and Mary (Jack) Murphy, of Galina, Ohio. Dayton is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Dayton spent 25 years as a volunteer with the Berkey Fire Department in Berkey, Ohio. He was one of the founding school board members for the Whiteford School system in Ottawa Lake, Michigan. Dayton was a farmer and master electrician. He and Vivian moved their family to Mason from Ottawa Lake in 1961. Dayton enjoyed spending time with his family, and bowling in Mason. He was a 38 year member of the Mason Senior Citizen's Group. The family will celebrate Dayton's life at a Memorial service to be held at the Eden United Brethren Church, 1938 Eden Road, Mason, MI on August 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Gifts in memory of Dayton may be sent to Hospice of Lansing, 6035 Executive Dr., #103, Lansing, MI 48911 or Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 S.
