Doris Radke Obituary

Doris Fay Radke Lansing Doris went home to the Lord in heaven on September 23, 2010 at age 87. She was a life-long Lansing resident born as the third of four daughters to Jennie and Norman Isbell. She graduated from Lansing Eastern High School and worked in several photography studios through the years. On October 9, 1948 she married Jacob Radke and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage. Together they had five daughters and were wonderful, loving, Christian parents. Doris enjoyed attending auctions, refinishing antique furniture, sewing and traveling. She loved children, especially her grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Jake; parents, Jennie and Norman Isbell; sisters and their husbands, Hope and Roy Hutchens, Mary and Bob Boase and Norma and Jack Pendergast. Surviving are her daughters, Faye Norris (Jack Foland), Dorene (Jim) Boyd, Jill (Jim) Fedewa, Colleen (Jeff) Schmidt, and Penny (George) Zerka; and grandchildren, Dan Norris (Jessica Stohr-Cheyenne, Chevelle, Chelsea, Chynna), Matt Boyd, Laura (fiancé Brendan Long) Boyd, Beth (Matt) Ehrlich, Marie Fedewa, Abby, Jake and Moriah Schmidt and Joe, David and Alainica Zerka. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church. Dorene: I apologize for the delay in posting this note (I just learned of the passing of your mom). My mom left this earth 7 years ago. I know it's not easy, but your mom will always be with you in your heart and your treasured memories. My heart goes out to you and your family. (In case you don't recognize my name, I attended Eastern High School with you.)

Your mom and dad are the best - they still are, just enjoying being fully alive from a different venue - in the presence of Jesus. I have so many fond memories of your family - golf, cookouts, so many red headed girls in one house, and a big spinning wheel sitting in the front window that always fascinated me. Your mom and dad were total integrity, humility, kindness, joy, love for each other, and understanding all bundled together. Two of God's choicest servants. And I know all of you carry their DNA. Jackie and I send our most heartfelt thanks for your family and offer our prayers for you now. John Pitt

Penny,

I'm so sorry for your pain. I pray that Jesus holds you and your family in his loving arms. I know that your mom is with him and is happy and not suffering any more.
