Dwight Graham Obituary

Dwight H. "Jack" Graham Williamston Dwight H. "Jack" Graham, age 57, died suddenly at his home on August 30, 2010. Jack was born September 5, 1952, in Lansing, Michigan to Donald G. Graham and Jaxine (Davis-Vanmale) Graham. He graduated from Grand Ledge High School and lived and worked in the Lansing area as a young adult, moving to his secure, rural hideaway in Williamston. He made a home with his devoted wife Cheryl (Cotman) and cherished daughter Kaitlynn. With the support and spiritual balance of his loving wife, he was blessed to be a "stay at home Dad", guiding and nurturing Kaitlynn who he was so very proud of. Jack was an avid reader and had an appreciation of the fine arts which developed while enjoying his visits to art shows and galleries. He opened his home to family and friends for many joyous social events, and took great pride and earned respect for his self-taught knowledge and detailed preparation of fine meals. For all who know and love him, we can visualize him seated in his favorite chair avidly watching sporting events or listening to classical music while quietly reading with his beloved dog, Romeo at his feet. He is survived by his encouraging, thoughtful loving family: wife, Cheryl, and daughter Kaitlynn; mother, Jaxine Vanmale of Florida; sister, Cindy Graham-Tripp of Lansing; brother, Larry (Tamara) Graham of Grand Ledge; aunt, Karen Janoschka of Pennsylvania; grandmother, Bernice Graham of Maine; sister-in-law, Diane Cotman and father-in-law, John Cotman, both of Farmington Hills. He also has numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as close friends, Steve Paige, Bruce Pratt and Don Wilkie. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Graham; grandfather, Howard Graham; grandmother, Esther Eschtruth; mother-in-law, Lorraine Cotman. He was also preceded by many extended family members and several close friends who, like him, died too soon struggling with the answers to life, love, health and happiness. Peace to you dear Jack, peace to you. The celebration of Jack's life will be conducted by Rev. Kathryn Demougin on Friday, September 3rd at 1:00 pm at St. Katherine's Episcopal Church, 4650 N. Meridian Road, Williamston. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall. Anyone wishing to make donations please make them to the local Humane Society in Dwight's name. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Williamston. On line condolences may be made at www.gorslineruncimanwillilamston.com

When I think of Jack, I see that great smile and I just have to smile in return. He lived with gusto, and it was impossible not to respond. He was quite a guy. Lark Burger
