Evonne Johnson Obituary

Evonne L. Johnson Lansing Age 70, passed away Thursday morning, April 8, at the Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing. Evonne was born September 26, 1939 in Lansing, the daughter of Evan and Charlotte Luno Hathaway. Her family were early settlers in Otisco Township where she grew up, graduating from Belding High School in 1957. She went on to college, graduating from Central Michigan University in 1961 with a degree in education. Evonne taught elementary school in the Lansing area school system both full time and as a substitute for several years. She was the librarian at Bath School and a library assistant for the Library of Michigan in Lansing for many years. Evonne was a member of the Capital City Old Car Club of Lansing and the Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity - Alpha Upsilon Chapter. Evonne was married February 14, 1964 in Carson City to Jack Johnson and he survives along with her sister, Connie and Donald Skinner of Portland. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Delores in 1937. A memorial service celebrating Evonne's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 12 at the Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Inurnment will follow in River Ridge Cemetery, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alvah N. Belding Library or the American Diabetes Association.
