Florence Harrison Obituary

Florence B. Harrison Muskegon Mrs. Florence B. Harrison, widow of Hubert, age 93, formrerly of Mason, passed away Tuesday evening, September 22, 2009. She was born December 12, 1915 in Aurelius, MI to Frank and Emma (Blanchard) Darrow. Mrs. Harrison had resided in Mason, Higgins Lake, and for the past 7 years in Muskegon. Florence worked at the Mason State Bank, the Ingham County Treasurer's Office, Steele Street School, and then opened a beauty shop in her home which she operated for 20 years before retiring. Mrs. Harrison had many treasured patrons and friends there. She gave of her heart to everyone she knew and mostly to her family whom she loved so much. On July 15, 1939 she married Hubert H. Harrison in Mason, MI and he preceded her in death on May 5, 2005. Survivors include 2 daughters, Connie (Ron) Snyder of Burnsville, Minnesota, Mary (Don) Vanderlaan of North Muskegon; grandchildren, Eric (Christine) Snyder and Jon (Kari) Snyder, Beth Vanderlaan and David (Lacey) Vanderlaan; and great-grandchildren, Lauren, Christopher, and Emily Snyder. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mildred Coover, Dorothy Droscha, Isabelle Wheaton; and her brother, Dale Darrow. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Gorsline Runciman Ball-Dunn Chapel (621 South Jefferson, Mason, MI 48854) with the Rev. Dwayne Bagley of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials to Harbor Hospice will be appreciated. I was sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. My folks were good friends of her and Hubert for so many years. I was unable to attend Florence's funeral, but wanted you to know that you girls were in my thoughts. She had many good years. Take care.
