Fred Krause Obituary

Fred Krause Grand Ledge Age 95, passed away October 4, 2009. He was born June 6, 1914 in Akron, MI the son of Friedrich and Katherine (Schirmer) Krause. Fred married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Jean Ferguson, on August 1, 1938. They recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. Achieving the rank of LTJG, Fred served in the United States Navy from 1943-46 aboard the LST 655 in the Mediterranean and Pacific Theatres. He graduated from the University of Michigan and became a chemical engineer for the Lansing Board of Water and Light. He was a member of the Lansing Engineers Club. Fred enjoyed making furniture. This led him become the handyman for the whole neighborhood. He could fix and repair just about anything. Fred was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Krause; son, Gilbert (Kathy) Krause of The Villages, FL; and grandchildren, Sandra Krause and daughter Emily of Grand Rapids, Brian (Denise) Krause and son Wyatt of Grand Rapids and Michael Krause of Livonia. A private family inurnment will take place. Memorial donations may be made to the VFW National Home for Children in Eaton Rapids or Plymouth Congregational Church in Lansing.
