George Hendy Obituary
George Edgar Hendy Lansing Age 95, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at his home on Aug. 22, 2009 in the home he designed and built in 1939. George was born in Lansing Oct. 23, 1913 and has been a lifelong resident. He worked at Fisher Body, Oldsmobile, and traveled extensively working in product design for Ren Plastics. He retired after 24 years with the State of Michigan in Right of Way Engineering. George lived a full and happy life, and felt blessed everyday to be alive. He was an avid sportsman and woodworker extraordinaire. As a Shriner he was very proud of his work with the Royal Hannaford Circus and the Golden Gloves. His passion was his family and friends and spending time at Loon Lake and Gull Lake. He enjoyed the last 13 winters in Sarasota, FL where he made so many great friends and fellow woodworkers. He credits part of his longevity to working out with Trainers Deb Dillon and Mike Fricchione. George was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor, and siblings Margaret, Elsie, Thomas and Edward and son-in-law Clifton Arehart. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Betty and his daughters Jo Arehart, and Judy (Sam) Eyde; step-children Arden (Marguerite) Neumann, Cynthia (David) Jonckheere, and Becky (Tony) Thaxton.
