Irene Brown Lansing Irene Kandt Brown has passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013. She was born in Mt. Clemens, MI on August 7, 1912, the daughter of Walter and Anna (Jarchow) Kandt. Irene married Carroll Preston Brown, III on July 21, 1934 and they moved to Lansing in 1947. Her husband predeceased her on January 13, 1989. She is survived by her children, Keith Brown (Genie) of Roanoke, Virginia and Bruce Brown (Janet) of Fairfax, Virginia. Her six grandchildren are Sabra Black (Walter), Anjeanette Brown, Elizabeth Weihl (Jeffrey), Bruce Allan Brown, Jr. (Julia), Carroll Brown, IV (Kay), and Manning Brown (Jennifer). She is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren. Irene and her husband were very active in all phases of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She originated and cooked for the school lunch program for over 15 years. In addition, she taught Sunday school for twenty-five years. Sparrow Hospital benefited from her volunteer work as a "Gray Lady." Irene had many hobbies. She loved reading and flowers. Her gardens were always greatly admired. She was a generous, fun-loving, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a true and loyal friend. Irene will be remembered and missed by all those fortunate to have known her. Visitation will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church (7910 E. St. Joe Hwy, Lansing, MI) at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2013. It will be followed by a funeral service at the church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Deepdale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any remembrances be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church or Eaton Community Palliative Care, 2675 S Cochran Rd. Charlotte, MI 48813.
