John M. Lopez Grand Ledge John M. Lopez was born on March 26, 1953 in Carriso Springs, Texas, the son of the late Pedro and Belen (Mallen) Lopez, and passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on October 9, 2013 at the age of 60. He loved to travel, play golf and coach baseball. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends. He was a devoted member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church and a very active member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 15417 of Cristo Rey Church in the 4th Degree. He was recently awarded the Hispanic Advocate Leadership Award by the Michigan Hispanic Caucus. He was the former co-owner of Lopez Bakery in Lansing. He retired from the Ingham County Road Commission in 2008 as a Supervisor, after 34 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Stephen Payne Marchlewicz. Surviving to cherish his memory, are his wife, Rose Mary Lopez, the love of his life; children, Lili (Steve) Marchlewicz, Josie Escobedo, Melissa Lopez, Eric (Michelle) Lopez, Deidra (Ramiro) Garcia and Korey Lopez; twelve grandchildren; two brothers, Jose Lopez and Jesus Lopez; three sisters, Mary (Bob) Burke, Susie (Rick) Ramirez and Esther (Lupe Lira) Lopez. A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:30 PM Friday, October 11, 2013 at Cristo Rey Church with Rev. Frederick L. Thelen, presiding.
