Joyce May (Brockbank) Arning Lansing and Pentwater Our dear mother and grandmother passed away Monday, January 7, 2013. Joyce was born in Lansing on March 5, 1929, the daughter of W. Harold and Opal (Wilbur) Brockbank. She graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in January of 1947 and Lansing Acme Business College in January of 1948, as well as Lansing Business University on a refresher course in 1966. Joyce worked in the offices of John Bean Mfg. Co, Hill Diesel Engine Co., Fulton Radio Supply Co., Attny James Burren Brown, the Michigan Court of Appeals-Clerk Offices; William Fishback, Director of the Board of Water and Light, retiring in March, 1991. Joyce was a member of Lansing Legal Secretaries Assoc. since 1967, a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and later New Faith Tabernacle Church, a member of U.S. Auxillary of the Coast Guard with their 29 foot Chris-Craft boat. She also summered at their Pentwater Lake cottage since 1968. Joyce was a M.S.U. football ticket taker for her father for several years. Her father was an honorary member of the MSU Varsity Club and a MSU retiree in 1965. Joyce was married to Gordon W. Arning for 56 years until his death in 2005. She was also preceded in death by her son in 1984, Randy James Arning. Surviving are one son, David G. (Cheri) Arning; 3 grandsons, Sean (Karen) Arning, Jason (Tammie) Janes and Christopher (Ingrid) Arning; 6 great grandchildren, Alex, Kelsey, John, Bailey, Riley and Xara. Funeral services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at the Palmer, Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta Chapel with Pastor Frances Dunn officiating. Private family interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids, MI. The family will receive friends Friday beginning at 10:00 am at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. Friends may sign the online guestbook at
