Juan Antonio "John" Gonzalez

Juan Antonio "John"Gonzalez Charlotte Age 64, passed away on April 29, 2010 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Laredo, Texas and graduated from Gabriels Catholic High School in Lansing, MI. Juan served 2 tours in Vietnam as a Marine and in 1997 retired from the Meridian Township Police Department after 25 years of service. He was re-introduced to a Jr. High friend, Judy Hoisington and later married her. He and Judy opened their home to numerous foster children over the years and added something to all of their lives. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, and devotion to his family and friends. He spent much of his time golfing, bowling, playing with his grandchildren and sharing time with family and friends. His strength and courage to handle whatever life had in store is one of his many attributes. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Judy; parents, Patricio and Julia Gonzalez; mother-in-law, Alice Hoisington; siblings, Ramona (Clio) Ruiz, Molly (Robert) Almazan, Julie (Javier) Cavazos, Patricio (Betty) Gonzalez, Tomas (Kim) Gonzalez; children, Michelle (Mark) Chappell, Theresa (Salvador) Tellez III, Michael (Amy) Smith; grandchildren, Allan, Harley, and Dustin Chappell, Melissa (Mike) Lee, Adam, Ian and Averie Tellez, Chris, Nick, and Brad Smith; numerous nieces and nephews, and loyal dog Timmy. Visitation will be held at Chapel in the Pines Funeral Home on Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church on Monday, May 3rd at 11:00 a.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Community Hospice.
