Judith A. Rosenberg Obituary
Judith A. Rosenberg Okemos March 31, 1938 - October 23, 2013 Judith (Judy) Adele Rosenberg, 75, of Okemos passed away on October 23, 2013 after a sudden illness. She was born March 31, 1938 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ervin and Lucille Knopp. Judith studied piano at the Milwaukee Music Conservatory and then earned her BA in Music and English from the University of Wisconsin in 1959. Judy moved to the Lansing area in 1967, and started teaching piano in Okemos in 1969. Since that time, she has taught over 500 students and will be well remembered for the many recitals and musical events she organized, including Lansing Matinee Musicale and the Okemos Honors Piano Recital. In the 1970's, Judy created and produced the monthly "Collage" television show that highlighted the achievements and talents of young people living in the greater Lansing area. Throughout the 1980's Judy served as Communications Director for the Lansing Center for Handicapper Affairs. Judy was an excellent pianist and enjoyed all kinds of music ranging from Bach to Sondheim. She had a distinctive sense of style which she expressed through her All Tied Up boutique design service that recycled men's ties into commemorative vests, pillows, toys and purses. Judy loved to travel and especially enjoyed all kinds of ethnic foods. But her greatest passion was for her family, in whom she took great delight and for whom she was an unfailing source of loving support. Judy's bright smile and quirky sense of humor will be missed greatly by many, including her husband Ronald Rosenberg, her children - Kirsten (Randal), Jes and Stig (Katherine) Asmussen, her step children - Ryan (Maria), Kara (Doug), Julia (Michael) and Jessica Rosenberg, and her brother Jonathan (Willette) Knopp. Judith will also be missed by her grandchildren Benjamin and Katherine Tajer, Christopher and Kayli Asmussen, Alexander and Andre Rosenberg, Jana, Adra and Tory Bowman and Mira, Sana and Cai Horn and her nephews Jonathan Knopp Jr, David (Yolanda) Knopp and Christopher Knopp. A prayer for Judy will be offered at the University Lutheran Church on November 24, 2013 at the 10:45 a.m. service. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent in her name either to Michigan State University's Public Broadcasting Station, WKAR, or to University Lutheran Church in support of the music program. The family is being served by the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing. On-line condolences may be made at
