Lee Hyndman Obituary

Lee A. Hyndman Wolverine Lee A. Hyndman, 86, of, passed away suddenly Saturday, August 28, 2010 at home. A resident of the area since 2000, moving from East Lansing, Lee was born November 16, 1923 in Canton, Illinois, the son of Robin and Edith (Provines) Hyndman. After growing up in Canton and Springfield, Illinois, he served in the infantry in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the European Theater. In 1955 in Lansing he married Ann Burger, who survives. He was a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington, earning a Bachelor of Science and Master's Degree in Bacteriology, and later a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin. He was employed by the Michigan Department of Public Health for 38 years, retiring as the Chief of the Laboratory Improvement Division, in 1989. In addition to his wife Ann, he is survived by his two daughters, Valerie (husband, Kernon Gibes) Hyndman of Gull Lake, and Barbara (Robert) Vines of Zion, Illinois, and his son, John (Lisa) Hyndman of Battle Creek, and grandchildren, Sara, Kathryn, LeeAnn, Ian, Nathan, Nora, and brother David Hyndman and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Robert and John Hyndman. Private family services have been held. The Lintz Funeral home is caring for the family.
