Martha J. Toomey

Martha J. Toomey Lansing Age 76, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2009. Martha was born November 9, 1932 in Lansing, the daughter of the late Joseph and Amelia (Ferris) Albert. She was formerly employed with Diamond Reo Motors and most recently with Ciba Geigy. She had an extensive network of friends wherever she went. Martha was an avid card player, enjoyed traveling and was an excellent cook who loved to prepare Lebanese food for her family. Martha was involved in numerous volunteer endeavors, including Ingham Medical Hospital and Bay Cliff Health Camp for Children. She was devoted to her church, her friends, and most importantly, her family. Martha was preceded in death by her parents and her step-mother, Delia Albert; brother, Rollin and sister, Sadie Smith. Surviving are her children, Amelia (David Vandever) Toomey, Richard (Margaret), John (Cindy) and Bryan (Kim); grandchildren, Steven, Michael, Amy, Eric, Josh and Joseph; brother, Ronald (Alma) Albert. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Melkite Church with Rev. Fr. Lawrence Gosselin. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Palmer, Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta Chapel, where a Trisigion service will be held Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Advantage in memory of Martha.
