Melvyn Dean Ketchum Laingsburg Melvyn Dean Ketchum of Laingsburg, age 78, passed away March 04, 2013 at the V.A. Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Melvyn was born October 03, 1935, the son of Ivan and Gladys Ketchum. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Wilfred (Wilma) Ketchum, Frances (Joann) Ketchum and Betty (Jim) Rose. He is survived by his children Marshall Ketchum, Daphne (Terry Osmun) Smith, Daniel Smith, Michael Smith; grandchild Kelly Smith; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Melvyn enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served his country and was Honorably Discharged in 1958. He then graduated with a certificate from Western State University. Melvyn went on to work as a Deputy for Ingham County Animal Control unitil he retired in 1977. Melvyn enjoyed traveling, playing the guitar and spending time with his dog Susie. A public memorial luncheon, in Melvyn's honor, will be served 3pm March 08 at 118 Bernstadt Street in Novi, MI.
