Morgan L. Beard

Morgan L. Beard Delta Twp. Passed away on November 13, 2010 at the age of 79. Morgan was born on November 3, 1931 in Bloomington, IN, to the late Lowell F. and Fern (Pittenger) Beard. He graduated from Petoskey High School in 1950. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon discharge, Morgan returned to Lansing. He attended Michigan State University for three years, majoring in Engineering. He began working for Lansing Board of Water and Light in the maintenance department. He retired from BWL after 37 years of service. Morgan was an avid skier and was a former member of the Jug & Mug Ski Club. Morgan had a wonderful tenor voice and enjoyed singing in the Calvary Lutheran Church choir where he was a longtime member. He was a Spartan alumnus who loved tailgating with his family and friends at Michigan State football games. He was a member of the Downtown Coaches Club for years. Overall, Morgan was an easy going guy who was liked and admired by all who knew him. He is predeceased by a sister, Nancy Dickes of Los Angeles, CA. Surviving is his wife of 39 years, Judith (Bohm), a son William Beard of Lansing, a sister, Winona Redkey of Santa Barbara, CA. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at 3:00p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 6301 W. St. Joe Hwy, Lansing, MI.
