Parmer Karns Obituary

Parmer L. Karns Lansing Mr. Parmer L. Karns, age 88, of Delta Township, passed away May 17, 2010. He was born February 7, 1922 in Reed City, MI, son to Fredrick Parmer and Esther C. (Helmquist) Karns. Parmer was a retired employee of Motor Wheel Corp. and a Veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Lansing, where he was an active member of the Men's Club, and he volunteered at Ingham Regional Medical Center for 20 years. Parmer was a great storyteller and enjoyed making furniture. His wife of 59 years, Ethel preceded him in death (August 2006) and also his daughter, Patricia; 1 brother and 4 sisters. He is survived by his son, Robert P. (Cindy) Karns of Howell, son-in-law, David R. (Barb) Lownsbery of Eagle; 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 20, 2010 - 1:00 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church, 1900 Boston Boulevard, Lansing, MI 48910, with Pastor Jane Ellen Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing. The family will begin to receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m.. until service time. Memorial contributions in memory of Parmer Karns may be made to Grace United Method Church.
