Pauline Geovanes

Pauline Geovanes Lansing Age 87, passed away on September 10, 2009. She was born on August 18, 1922 in Richmond, Virginia to the late James and Sophia Geovanes. She was also preceded in death by: sisters, Mary Metes, Kathryn Stavros and Bessie Vlahakis; brothers, George and Crist Geovanes; nephew, Capt. James Geovanes; nieces, Catherine Paganini and Nanette Haggerty; and brothers-in-law, John Vlahakis and Peter Stavros. She is survived by her sister, Ethna Haggerty; nieces, Andrea (Gene) Esch, Sophia (Jerry) Beadle; nephews, Tom (Yvonne) Metes, George (Sarah) Stavros, James (Susanne) Stavros; several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews; special family friends, Mary Volakakis, Jim Buysse and Marilyn Vlahakis; and a special young lady, Alli Knot. She was employed as a supervisor at the State of Michigan Department of Civil Service for 42 years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, the Philoptochos Society, and the church choir. She was also a member of the Sparrow Service Auxiliary. The family wishes to express a special thanks to the Staff at Whitehills Healthcare Center and Hospice of Lansing. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2009, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1701 E. Saginaw St., Lansing, with Fr. Mark Sietsema officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-4 and 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday, with the Trisagion beginning at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, or to Hospice of Lansing in memory of Pauline Geovanes.
