Richard Wilton Obituary

Richard R. Wilton Lansing Age 73, third oldest of six siblings, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2009. Richard was born August 4, 1936 in Lansing, the son of the late Leland and Arthella (Purtill) Wilton. He was a graduate of Resurrection High School, Class of 1954 and served his country with the U. S. Army. Richard retired from the Board of Water and Light after 31.73 years of service as a Meter Technician. He love to golf, was an avid woodworker and dulcimer maker and an outdoorsman. Richard was a champion horseshoe thrower and an avid bowler. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John and Lynwood. Surviving are his brothers and sister, Doug (Gloria) of Perrinton, Gerald (Lorna) of Lansing and Patricia (Thomas) Engel of East Lansing; nieces and nephews, Sandra (Brad) Westen, Cindy Houghtaling, Michael Wilton, Kimberly (Bill) Keilen, Gregory (Lisa) Wilton, Lorie (Russ) Ammon, Raymond (Patricia) Wilton, Cheri Dolan, Chester Wilton, Susan (Patrick) McKitrick, Linda (Steve) James, Deborah (Michael) Shue, Karen (Edward) Lawless and Dawn (Ben) Harris. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 10:00 a.m., at the Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Fr. William Koenigsknecht as celebrant. Interment with Military Honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Palmer, Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel and Friday from 9:00 am until service time at the Church. A rosary will be prayed Thursday evening, 6:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. A special thank you is extented to Breslin Cancer Center, McLaren Home Care and Hospice and Eaton Communtiy Hospice for their compassionate care and to Cindy for her selfless acts of kindness and her unending love. Dick will definitely be missed by his friends at Pioneer Creek RV resort in Florida. He was a very kind and caring person and will miss seeing him at bingo. Our prayers and thoughts go out to the family.
