Dear Sarhatt Family,
I am sad to discover "Uncle Bobs" passing. My parents, Tom and Sharon Bogan chose him as my God-Father growing up. Over 2o years ago I had lost touch with Uncle Bob. He has been so heavy on my mind as of late I decided to do a search and found this site. My heart and prayers go out to his family and friends. Regretfully, I didn't get the chance to tell him what a beautiful impact he made on my life. He truly had a beautiful soul!
Many Blessings.

hello friends the family of Bob Sarhatt Sarhatt I saw the article in the state journal what a nice tribute to your dad, I met your dad when i worked at Michigan Brass and Electric he was friends of Pat Gorman he would stop by to have a cup of coffee , after a few visits he became my friend also . He would tell stories and jokes , always smiling he sure was a people person. For a long time i never knew his wife was Laurie that worked at Jacoboson's she always helped me when I went shopping there , I loved that store and she was a neat lady , lots of times i would have lunch with her and some of the other ladies that worked there . Plus I worked with Susie at Michigan Brass, that's how I found out those two special people in my life were married . Your dad was the greatest always positive and bragging about his children . I remember how excited he was when the two of you got married . He knew I collected pens so he would always bring me a few . I felt bad because it was several months before I knew he passed away . When they came to Lansing they would stop by Haslett where I worked at Kendall Lighting Center to see me , I helped them with the lighting for their retirement home .Sue would stop by to see me also or send an xmas card , I retired last July after being in the business for 43 years . My home address is 110 Hume Blvd. Lansing , Michigan 48917 1-517-321-3577 hm. phone. I sent Pat Gorman the memorial that was in the State Journal I knew he would want to read it . I hope your mom is doing okay ,please give her my love . I have many fond memories of both your parents
Bob was a character he could always brighten your day , and light up a room with his smile . He was in the right business , because people were his life other than his family which was very important to him . I hope all of you are doing okay , you are in my thoughts and prayers . Special friend Beverly Slack 4/19/11

I went back to the obituary section a second time to review something and saw the memorial written up by the children on 4/8/11. It brought back many memories-- good memories of Bob.

We had lunch many times when we worked together at NWNL. After retirement we had several opportunities to visit when he was back in Lansing to see a client. His phrase" let's get together and break bread" is one I will always remember. Bob was my mentor and motivator. He kept me going and made me believe I could do most anything. I needed that when I was young in the business. I too benefited on occasion from his birthday cards.

Bob was proud of his children's accomplishments. He shared them with me over those lunches we had.

To this day I still use a few of Bob's phrases that I picked up on "When you become an Angel" his way of discusssing death and "Your bride" his way of making a man think of his wife when discussing the benefits of life insurance. Great phrases!

Although I never got to fish with him I wish I had that opportunity. He looked forward to his fishing vacation each year with great anticipation and he had so much fun with his fishing buddies.

Yes I miss him too. I wish we had one more opportunity to "Break bread" and visit.

We haven't forgot. The Alden Men's Club, and especially the Fields family (Larry, Tina, Brad, Cheryl Lynn, and the kids), miss you, Bob - your infectious smile, the overriding kindness in your remarks, your friendship. We will never forget. Be at peace and watch over us.

Happy Birthday Dad!

This is the first birthday I can't say it to you in person or on the phone. I think of you everyday, but especially today--when 84 years ago the most wonderful human being entered this world. I am so honored and thankful to be your daughter.

You will always be deeply loved and deeply missed.

Love always and forever, your daughter,

I remember when I met Bob and Laurie 30 (!) years ago. They visited us in Berne, Switzerland. This was the first time and then we saw each other in Lansing, again in Switzerland, New York and Athens. We had so much fun together and always something to laugh about.
Dear Laurie and family. I feel so sorry and it's hard to find the right words. Bob will have always a special place in my heart. My thoughts are with you in this hard time.
