Sylvia Connelly Obituary

Sylvia Sue Connelly Westphalia Died peacefully on October 25, 2010. Born in Ludington, Michigan on April 17, 1939 and adopted by Mildred and William Leppla. She graduated from Ludington High School in 1959. Married to Joseph P. Lipinski in 1960, with whom she had four daughters. Later divorced, she was employed at WJIM and General Motors until her retirement. Sue loved people and made friends wherever she went. She dedicated her life to serving others who benefited from her company and her cuisine. Awarded Volunteer of the Year by Hospice of Michigan. Member of St. Mary's Parish in Westphalia. She loved to cook, garden, and play cards with friends and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and live music. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, William Connelly; her four children, Lisa Lipinski (Christopher Klug); Angela Rand (Mitch), Antoinette Goodman, and Susan Oliver; seven grandchildren including Jacob, Alexander, and Benjamin Rand, Ella and Lucas Goodman, and Avery and Chloe Oliver. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. James Conlon at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 28, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia. The family received friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St. The rosary was prayed at 3 p.m. and Scripture Rosary at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 29, 2010 at St. Simon Catholic Church, Ludington. Rite of Committal followed at North Victory Cemetery, Ludington. The family received friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday at The Alexander-Rye Funeral Home, 309 S. Washington Ave., Ludington, MI. 49431. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sparrow Hospice Services in memory of Sue. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.
