Theodore Scandary Obituary

Theodore J. "Ted" Scandary Ted was born on December 31, 1918, the second son of four children born to George and Alexandria Scandary of Detroit - formerly of Albania. He graduated from Northwestern High School in Detroit and was drafted into the U.S. Army in July 1941. He was discharged as a Sergeant in the Coast Artillery, U.S. armed services in December 1945. He attended Wayne State University earning a B.A. degree in 1949 and a M.Ed. in 1953. He was employed as an Audiologist by the Michigan Department of Public Health from 1952 until his retirement in 1984. His retirement years were spent as a volunteer at the Ingham Medical Library, golf with friends, and in domestic and international travel. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane (Leipprandt) Scandary; his sons, John of Hendersonville, TN and Robert of Grand Junction, CO; his sister, Mrs. Virginia Keseric of Allen Park, MI; plus several granddaughters, nieces and nephews. Ted was a kind and gentle man with a lively sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
