Vernon E. MacKenzie Lansing Passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at age 86. Born March 4, 1927 to Newton and Ethel MacKenzie in Fowlerville, MI. Vernon honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later went on to work for Lansing Tile & Mosaic Company where he retired from as a Ceramic Tile Setter. Vernon was a member, for many years, of the B.P.O.E. Lansing Elks Lodge. He enjoyed spending the winters at his Sarasota, FL residence. He had a green thumb and loved his flowers and gardening. Most of all, Vernon loved his family and they were the most important in his life. Preceding him in death was his wife, Rosemond; brothers, Lyle, Donald and Virgil; sister, Florence Musson and his parents. Surviving are his daughters, Laura (James) Gordon of Ludington, MI, Gail MacKenzie of Lansing, MI; son, Brian E. (Marsha) MacKenzie of Nolensville, TN; grandchildren, Steven Thocker, Maggie Thocker, Jennifer Barrus, Brian J. MacKenzie, Jessica Gordon, Lois Gordon, Kerry Gordon, Heather (Joe) Thurston; great granddaughter, Andrea Frizzell as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013 at Mount Hope Presbyterian Church, 301 W. Jolly Rd., Lansing with visitation one hour prior.
