Wanda D. (Dee) Zawacki Obituary
Wanda D. ("Dee") Zawacki Lansing Wanda D. ("Dee") Zawacki, formerly Detroit (Birmingham), MI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the home of her youngest daughter in Georgia. She was 84. Dee, as she was known affectionately by friends and family alike, was born on August 3, 1928 in Detroit, MI, the only child of Stanley and Genevieve Zebroski. She was married to her loving husband, Robert M., who preceded her in death in 1982. Together they had three children, Carol Christine, Deborah Jane, and Elaine Ann, and eventually they moved to the Lansing area. Dee was an intensely private, courageous, and independent lady throughout her entire life. A widow for over thirty years, she loved her circle of close friends, neighbors, and family dearly, and relished in the successes and happiness of her children and beloved grandchildren. Up until her final year of life she would travel out-of-state to their homes for holidays and celebrations and often joined them on trips to warmer climates. She also thoroughly enjoyed taking many casino trips with her special ladies in Michigan. Dee had a passion for tending her prolific gardens over the years, and undoubtedly found peace and solace in the nurturing of her beautiful plants and flowers. She had a sweet fondness for angels, cherubs in particular, and likely invoked their heavenly protection of her during trying times. Dee was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church since 1967 and it was there through her church circle that she made lifelong friendships with women she cherished. Dee's spirit and presence will be sadly and deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched. She is survived by her loving family; daughter, Carol Cole of Fremont, CA., daughter Debbie (William) Mehl of Flemington, NJ., and daughter Elaine (Edward) Bowersox of Johns Creek, GA., and their two children, Lauren and Ryan. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. John P. Klein at 10:30 a.m. Friday October 12, 2012, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow Hwy., Lansing. Interment will follow later with a private service at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial tributes in Dee's memory be made to the or to a .
