Virgil Pipes Portland Passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the age of 84. Virgil was born March 19, 1929 to the late Claude and Elva (Hall) Pipes in Savannah, TN. Virgil retired from Fisher Body as a Spot Welder and was a member of the local UAW. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, and always loved having meals with his family. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his love of children whom he always had a present for. He is preceded in death by a daughter Donna Joyce Lippert (1988), 4 brothers, Frank, Johnny (Henrietta), R.L., and James "Trigger" Pipes, a sister Gladys Elliot, and a sister-in-law Sally Pipes. Virgil is survived by 1 grandson. 4 granddaughters, Danica (Jamie) Ingraham and Lisa (Bill) Hinds, 4 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Joseph, Amber, and Kassie, 2 brothers, Claude "Butch" and Billy Pipes, a special niece Rebecca (Tom) Rau, his little bird Madison, 3 sister-in-laws, Reba Scott, Wanita White, and Carolyn McDaniels, and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel with Steve Ezop officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
