A. John Vielbig East Lansing Passed away on February 13, 2014 at the age of 85. John was born April 29, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY to Augustus B. and Katherine (Ort) Vielbig. He was a very giving, kind and caring man of few words. He was a volunteer for many years, especially with St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Charities and the Capital Area Interfaith Respite (C.A.R.E.). John wrote in the sports section of the Towne Courier, enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, photography, words with friends and candy Crush. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Vielbig. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Alice; six daughters, Patricia (Kevin) Martin, Terri Walker, Catherine (James) Mosher, Mary (Nancy VanGilder) Vielbig, Joan Vielbig and Jennifer (Dave) Tackett; three sons, James (Lisa) Vielbig, Joe Vielbig, and Tom (Teri) Vielbig; grandchildren, George Martin, Amanda (Chris) Koch, Erik Walker, Emily (Tony) Foster, Kelly and Matthew Mosher, Drew, Erin, Laura, Nick, Jonathon and Jake Vielbig; great-grandchildren Declan and Skylar, and sister Marguerite (Lenny) Perry. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Road, East Lansing. The family will receive friends at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Ave, East Lansing on Monday, February 17, 2014, 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Charities, through St. Thomas Council, or Greater Lansing Food Bank, P. O. Box 16224, Lansing, MI 48901 in memory of John.
