Kathryn Elaine Hodgman Olivet Kathryn Elaine Hodgman, 97, of Olivet, MI, died Thursday, February 13, 2014. Kathryn was born March 2, 1916, in Chester Twp., the daughter of the late S.D. and Hazel (Gray) Rogers. Kathryn worked at many places, including Fisher Body, Sears and Wilcox-Gay, but most enjoyed performing. She and her husband, Alton, started spending winters in Bradenton, Florida, in 1950, and continued on after his death for a total of 60 winters. Her entire life was devoted to music. In her early years, she played in a dance band with her parents. She loved to dance, meeting her husband at a dance in Narrow Lake. They were married within a year. She also performed in several dance bands in Florida for many years. Finally, she was a proud member of the Mummer's organization in Bradenton until retiring in 2008. She resided with her daughter, Phyllis, in Alabama until Phyllis' death. She then returned to Michigan for the past several months. She will be remembered for her love of music, her ability to always have a story to tell and her love of family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton D.; son, Roger, daughter, Phyllis Collins; son-in-law, Robert B. Collins; and great-granddaughter, Nicole Lewey. She is survived by one daughter, Dianne (Paul) Piepkow of Olivet; grandchildren, Mickey (Sue) Collins of Charlotte, Julie (Shawn) Symons of Strasberg, CO, Janine (Greg) Dicus of Prattville, AL, Joanie (Gerald) Cade of Harpersville, AL, Janey Merchant of Lowndesboro, AL, Angela (Jesse) Worden of Mason, MI, and Lori (Barry) Schrader of Charlotte; 16 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; and her step-brother, Larry (Joanne) Weiler. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Pray Funeral Home with Paul Piepkow of Lee Center United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. Memorial contributions may be made to Lee Center United Methodist Church.
