Virginia (McDermid) Cooley Obituary
Virginia (McDermid) Cooley Mason Virginia (McDermid) Cooley passed away on February 20, 2014. Virginia was born on September 22, 1923 and was raised on the farm at the McDermid Apple Orchard in Pennfield Township. She was the daughter of Frank and Myrtle McDermid. Following graduation from Battle Creek Central High School, Virginia was employed by A&P, where she met Dale Cooley. They were married in 1955. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, son Warren, brother Lloyd, sisters Betty Jean, June and Margaret. She is survived by her daughters, Liz Luttrell-Wilson (Tom Wilson) and Susan Knighton (Ken), granddaughter Aurora Wesley, who was with her when she passed and grandson Chad Luttrell. She is also survived by her brother Charles McDermid, Jim (Ellen) McDermid, brother-in-law Ed (Mary) McLaughlin and sister-in-law Donna Felton. Virginia was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mason and had been employed by Dancer's Fashions in Mason. Donations may be made in Virginia's memory to the Mason Promise Scholarship, c/o Capital Region Community Foundation, 330 Marshall St. Ste. 300, Lansing MI 48912. Visitation will be held at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, Ball Dunn Chapel, 621 S. Jefferson, Mason, MI on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place following the funeral at Hicks Cemetery in Pennfield Township. The family is being served by the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Mason, MI.
