Joan "Joannie" I. Davis Williamston Joan I. Davis "Joannie", age 89, of Williamston, MI, passed away February 25, 2014. She was born on February 10, 1925 to Nellie (Willett) Baker and Edward Willett. She was born in Saginaw and grew up in Manistee, MI where she graduated from Manistee High School. She married Allen John Davis, also of Manistee on June 26, 1948 and together they moved to East Lansing, where Joannie spent most of her life teaching piano. She shared her love of music with hundreds of students. Joannie also worked at St. Lawrence Hospital and East Lansing Health Care Center, where she also played piano weekly for Friday happy hour musical events. Joannie was a kind person and was blessed with many friends throughout her life. Joannie cherished her children and grandchildren and loved to be active in their lives. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Allen J. Davis, and her son, Allen J. Davis, Jr. surviving are her daughter, Bridget Widerman of Colorado and son, Jason (Sarah Deck) Davis of Williamston, her grandchildren: Julie Davis and Amy Davis of Manistee, Andy (Corrie) Swan, Tim (Julie) Swan of Colorado, Hannah Davis, Leah Davis, and Ross Davis of Williamston, and five great grandchildren, Sidney, Jacob, Olivia, Lucy and Zachary. A memorial will be held to celebrate Joannie's life in Manistee in July at Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Okemos Community Church's music program, 4734 Okemos Rd., Okemos, MI 48864.
