Age 80, wife of former State Journal columnist Jim Hough, died Friday, March 28, 2014. She was born October 17, 1933 in Elgin, Illinois daughter of the late Roy and Darl (Hubler) Yund.
Darl was a graduate of Central Michigan University in 1956, she went on to teach elementary school in the Lansing Public School District for 27 years, retiring in 1988. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, and hunting for rocks in her beloved Upper Peninsula.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, James Hough; two children, Linda Hough Redding and Steven James Hough; five grandchildren, Caitlin Neve (James Woodfork) Cornell, Colin Robert Cornell, Daniel Paul Hough, David James Hough and Ellen Rebecca Hough; one great grandson, Colin James Cornell-Woodfork; her brother, Gaylord (Jackie) Yund; sister, Judith (William) Frever; many nieces, nephews and other extended family members along with her loving in-laws, Donald Hough, Joyce (Charles) Hough Bandy and Marlene Hough Gatewood. Darl was preceded in death by her sister, Jacquelyn Pollock.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with her children officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Those who wish may make memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, to Hospice Advantage, 801 S. Waverly Rd., Lansing, MI 48917. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
