Helen (Powell) Tober

Age 75; beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away April 1, 2014. She was born in Wola Rzedzinska, Poland on April 1, 1939 and has lived in the Lansing area since 1949 upon her immigration from Germany.
After raising four children, Helen was an associate at Macy's for 12 years, and worked for the Red Cross for the past 14 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rudolf "Rudy" Tober. Surviving are her four children, Rudy Tober (Diane), Ingrid Abrouk (Nacer), Karin Kim (Steve), and Eric Tober (Renee); eleven grandchildren, Clayton and Haley Tober, Michael and Jonathan Abrouk, Lindsey, Mitchell, Melanie, Thomas, and Bradley Kim, Alec and Aidan Tober; siblings, Eric Powell (Mary), Siegfried Powell (Judy), Mereta Drakey (Tony); and nieces and nephews, Steven and Michael Powell, Matthew and Caroline Powell, Elke and Mark Tober and brother-in-law, Armin Paul Tober (Sandy).
Religious services will be conducted by Pastor Paul J. Lindloff at 11:00am Friday, April 4, 2014 at Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church, corner of N. Capital Ave. and Kilborn St. with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Ave., East Lansing, from 7-9pm Thursday, April 3, and Mrs. Tober will lie-in-state at the church from 10am Friday until service time. Contributions may be made to the church in memory of Helen.
