Passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 72. Jo was born January 30, 1942 to the late John and Jessie (Ross) Gibson in Roanoke, Virginia. She moved from Belleville in 1973 to Lansing area and has resided here since. Jo worked for Chocola Cleaning Material for more than 30 years, and was an Aflac representative. She was a devoted member of the Downtown Lansing Kiwanis Group since 1996 where she acted as past president from 1999-2000 and treasurer until 2013. Jo was a board member of Scheffel, a volunteer at the McRee House, and a former Ingham Regional medical ambassador. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, was an avid fan of sports, and enjoyed doing many artistic things.Jo was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a caring friend who courageously battled cancer for the past 2 years. She is preceded in death by her husband George Grubbe in 1973.
She is survived by a son, Andrew Grubbe, 2 daughters, Jennifer and Jacqueline Grubbe; 2 grandchildren, Kenneth and Michael, 3 great-grandchildren, Alayna, Genina, and Noah, a sister Barbara Isreal.
A memorial service celebrating Jo's life will be held Friday, April 18, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel with Pastor Fred Froman officiating. The family will receive friends Friday beginning at 11:30 A.M. until the time of service. Contributions may be made to Eaton Community Palliative Care in memory of Jo.
