Nancy Lyn Tomanica


Age 74, passed away April 15, 2014 in Lansing.  Born February 16, 1940 in Lansing to Steve and Clara (Karber) Tomanica. 

Graduated in 1958 from Resurrection High School, and from St. Lawrence Hospital X-ray tech program in 1960.  She worked as a tech at St. Lawrence Hospital and was later chief tech of depts. at M.S.U., Community Hospital in Battle Creek, MI and Redi Care South, East Lansing, and Haslett for Ingham Medical Center. Her last 10 years of work, she was office manager at Tiffany Funeral Home, retiring in 2005.  Throughout her career she met many people and hoped that she was able to bring comfort to them. Her special loves and interest where her cocker spaniels, travel, being an avid M.S.U. basketball and football fan. Her faith was very special to her as a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, and an Eucharistic minister for several years until her health became worse.  She was also a member of the Big Sisters for many years. She was very active in the state and local X-ray society. She was executive secretary 1974-1981, president of district 2, president of the Michigan Society state organization 1982, board chairman of the board of directors 1984, plus several other positions.  Received technologist of the year award in 1979. A special thank you to the priests, St. Gerard members who made many visits and brought her communion every Sunday.

Surviving are her sister-in-law, Valerie Tomanica of Wheaton, IL; and many cousins, and friends.  Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Daniel; sister, Sharon.

Visitation is from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at church with the Funeral Liturgy at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 22, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing with Fr. Paul Erickson presiding.  Rite of committal St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  Contributions may be made to St. Gerard Church, Capital Area Humane Society, or Lansing Food Bank.
