Patricia L. Daiss


Patricia L. Daiss (Pat) of Lansing, Age 85, went to be with The Lord on Good Friday, April 18, 2014. Patricia was born on December 11, 1928 in Lansing, MI the daughter of Donald and V. Katherine (Spitzley) Weideman, and lived most of her life in the Lansing & Eaton Rapids area. She was a member of several area Catholic churches over the years, and is currently a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. She attended Holy Cross grade school, St. Mary's High School, and St. Joseph Mercy Nursing School in Ann Arbor. She was a nurse for over 50 years working at St. Lawrence Hospital, in a private medical practice, and with the Ingham County Health Department.

She was a devoted & loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Patricia was preceded in death by her loving husband Glenn (retired Deputy Chief of the Lansing Fire Department) after 43 years of marriage, and infant son Scott.

She is survived by her children, Andrea (Lee) Suurmeyer and Tim (Connie) Daiss; 7 grandchildren, Scott (Lisa) Suurmeyer, Maren Suurmeyer, Andrew Suurmeyer, Taylor Suurmeyer, Stephanie (Kyle) Anderson, Christie Daiss, and Tracie (Nathan) Guild; and 3 great-grandchildren, Madison Suurmeyer, Connor Anderson and Brody Anderson; and close family friend, Irene Lafrinere. Also surviving are several godchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 23nd at 10:30am at St. Gerard Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Paul Erickson as celebrant, with her grandchildren serving as her pallbearers. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, April 22st from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Delta Chapel, where a rosary will be prayed at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue Wednesday one hour prior to the service. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. Friends may send the family a condolence at
