Obituary Condolences

Patricia L. McCauley

Patricia L. McCauley, 89, died peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2014.  Pat, "Peggy" was born in Gladstone, MI the 9th of 10 children born to Alexius and Rose (Sureth) McCauley. Pat graduated from Gladstone High School in 1943 and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree and become a registered nurse. It was this vocation of caregiver that guided her entire life. During her earlier years as a nurse, she cared for the community of Gladstone and tended to soldiers returning from World War II.  She later moved to Lansing and began a long and dedicated career at Sparrow Hospital where she was as an integral part of establishing and leading the development of the IV unit at the hospital.  Her greatest strengths and joys were seen through the loyal and loving care she gave to her family, unselfishly attending to their needs. She was at their side when her Mother, brothers, sister, niece and nephew died. Although she never had children of her own, she played a significant role in the lives of her nieces and nephews. As a life-long member of the Catholic Church, she lived a life true to the basic values of its teachings: take care of those in need. She will be remembered as a strong and independent woman who found her calling as a caregiver to the many fortunate people who crossed her path.

She is survived by her youngest brother John "Mike" McCauley and his wife Beverly of Lansing, MI.  Nephews; William Goulding and James Goulding (Linda) of Lansing, MI, Alexius "Lex" of Chicago, IL. Nieces; Lorraine Vendeville of Depere, WI, Janice Flynn of Colorado Springs, CO and Kathleen McCauley of Holyoke, MA.

Services will be held Friday, May 9, 2014. Visitation will be held at 3:30 pm, with a Funeral Service at 4:30pm, at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing, MI 48917. She will return home to Gladstone, MI with burial on Monday May12, 2014 in Fernwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the following:
