Rickey (Rick) Rochester, 60, of Charlotte passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Rick was born October 20, 1953 to Robert and Bertha (Moore) Rochester of Eaton Rapids. He graduated from Eaton Rapids High School in 1971. In June 1978 he married Cindy Wright. Rick worked at Krown Manufacturing, Carefree, Spartan Motors, and Ward Craft in Quality Control, before going to work full time for the Army National Guard as a Federal Technician. He served in the 119th Armored Division in Charlotte, and transferred to the 177th Regiment of the Michigan Army National Guard until his retirement as Master Sergeant in 2013 after 36 years. During his time in the Army National Guard he was recognized as solider of the year. Rick enjoyed bowling, and had an avid interest in cars and restoring vehicles including his current project a 1984 Corvette that he had worked on for the last three years. Rick was a quiet man of few words, except when you got to know him and then he became a man of MANY words. He always spoke well of others.
Rick is survived by his wife, Cindy Rochester, sons Ross Rochester of Kalamazoo, MI, and Kirby (Rachel) Rochester of Rochester, MI, granddaughter Bostynn Rochester, and sisters Marie (Don) Principato of Arkansas, and Cindy (Craig) Boatman of Eaton Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, May 27, 10:00 a.m. at Pray Funeral Home with Reverend Arthur Salisbury officiating, and interment to follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery at 12 noon. Visitation is at Pray Funeral Home on Monday, May 26, 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled Veterans of America or Eaton Community Palliative Care.
