Ralph Eugene Green, age 81, was called home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Ralph was born August 27, 1932 in St. Johns, Michigan to Lyle and Edith (Eastman) Green. A long standing member of First Baptist Church of St. Johns, Ralph received Christ as his Savior as a teenager and remained committed to the good news of the gospel his whole life. An avid sports enthusiast, Ralph was a member of the 1949 St. Johns High School Football Championship Team and inductee into the Michigan High School Football Hall of Fame. Also during high school, Ralph was one of the first Golden Gloves boxers in St. Johns. Following high school, Ralph enlisted in the Army and served as a Sergeant during the Korean War. After re-entering civilian life, Ralph met Mary Ann Mullen, and they were married November 12, 1955.
Ralph was blessed with and survived by his devoted wife Mary Ann, their children, Mark (Mary), Julia, Martin (Ruth) and Michael (Rachel); 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Zilz; sisters, Louise (Alan) Law and Barbara (Walter) Viges as well as many nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Marion Green and Fred Green and a grandson Alexander Green.
Ralph retired after 37 years at Federal Mogul as a tool and die inspector. Ralph cherished his time with family and friends, traveling with Mary Ann, deer hunting, fishing and watching sports.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at First Baptist Church of St. Johns with Pastor Tim Knaus officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery with military honors provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard. The family will receive relatives and friends 2 - 4 and 6 - 8p.m. Monday, June 2 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns.
