Stephen John Polzin


Age 62, went to be with The Lord, Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Stephen was born December 23, 1951 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of James and Dorothy (Koski) Polzin. A Lansing area resident for 44 yrs, Steve graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master's in Social Work. He retired from the Lansing School District as a social worker and was currently employed at Lansing Psychological Associates as a clinical social worker for over 20 years. Steve has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Holt for the past 30 years, where he served as an ordained elder and deacon. Steve was an outdoor enthusiast, nature photographer and an avid sports fan, especially of MSU teams. A devoted, loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend and respected colleague, he will be deeply missed. He will be remembered for his positive attitude, fun loving spirit, compassionate nature, inner strength, authentic faith and his love of family. Steve cared for and helped many people in his life and work through the Ingham County Probate Court, Michigan School for the Blind and Community Mental Health. He was always trying to make things better for everyone he met.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, James Polzin; father and mother in law, Ray and Bertie Sinclair. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Janet; children, Mark and Rebekah Polzin; mother, Dorothy Polzin; brothers, Michael (Angela), Andrew, Charles (Robyn) and William (Lisa) Polzin; sisters, Suzanna McCarthy and Therese (Duane) Scheuerlein; brother in law, Charles (Diana) Sinclair. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

A Funeral Service will be held, Tuesday, July 1, 2014, 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Holt with Rev. Kirk Miller as celebrant. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends, Monday, June 30, 2014, from 5-8 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 2021 N. Aurelius Rd., Holt, MI. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Steve's memory. The family is being served by the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Holt Chapel.
