Marilee Schnabel Obituary
Marilee Edna (LaVigne) Schnabel

DeWitt

Marilee Edna (LaVigne) Schnabel, nee Bond, 92, of DeWitt, went to be with her Lord on July 1, 2014.  She was born in Bingham Township, Michigan on August 30, 1921 to Fred and Edna (Longcor) Bond.  She was predeceased by siblings Eugene, Zelma, Hazel, and Burdette, as well as her beloved husbands, Fred LaVigne and Duncan Schnabel.

Marilee, a 1939 graduate of Rodney Wilson High School in St. Johns, was a gifted seamstress who shared her talents with her family and friends, making clothing, wedding gowns, draperies, and upholstering furniture.  She used her talents professionally as a sub-contractor, in her home-based business, and as an employee of Melville.  She generously donated her sewing talents to her church and to Ingham Medical Guild, where she served as Vice-President for 10 years.  During her working years, she was also employed by Reo during WWII, and later by the driver's license division of the State of Michigan.

Marilee will be dearly missed by her children Sandra (Jerry) Post, Ronald (Mary) LaVigne, and Terri (Dennis) Courser, as well as grandchildren Brian, Brenda, Jay, Jamie, Jeff, Joe, Josh, Dennis Jr., and Dan.  She also leaves several beloved great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Visitation is at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, 48820 on Wednesday, July 2nd, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 3rd, with Pastor Dave Leisman of Valley Farms Baptist Church officiating.  Interment will follow at DeWitt Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to Sparrow Hospice, 1210 W. Saginaw, Lansing, MI 48912 or Valley Farms Baptist Church, 1141 East State Road, Lansing, MI 48906.

The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel.
