Shirley Ledden Obituary
Shirley Anne (Adams) Ledden

East Lansing

Age 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2014.

She was born on December 30, 1929 to Daniel and Bessie (Wolfe) Helm, raised and attended school in Pittsburgh. Shirley graduated from Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, OH in 1951 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She married Charles Adams in 1950, and they moved to Lansing, MI to join a surgical practice.  The marriage ended in divorce, after which she married George Ledden in 1979.

Shirley was a very talented artist with an eye for color; she designed and built her home in East Lansing in 1969.  She also loved painting, needlepoint, and especially cut-wool rug-hooking.  She was a very active bridge club member who loved to entertain, but also enjoyed working in her garden.

Shirley loved to serve others and help people.  She volunteered with the Sparrow "Pink Ladies" and with Hospice of Lansing.  She shared her passion for art with others by teaching those skills at the YMCA.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, George; her sons, Mark (Cindy) and Gregg (Catherine) Adams; her grandchildren, Emily, A.J., and Ashley Adams; and the many other people whose lives she has touched.

A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on Friday, July 11 at 3pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave, East Lansing.  Family will greet friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lansing, 4052 Legacy Pkwy, Suite 200, Lansing, MI  48911.

The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing. On line condolences may be expressed at www.greastlansing.com
