Lucy L. Esmay Lansing Lucy's life came to an end on May 1, 2012. For years Lucy struggled courageously with pain, anxiety and depression. Lucy was born in Lansing on June 15, 1959 to Robert and Victoria Marker. Lucy was a devoted and loving mother and wife and surviving to cherish her memory are: Dennis, her husband of 29 years; her two children, Megan (George) Davis of Warren and Robert Esmay of East Lansing; three sisters, Mary Ann (Jay) Jensen of Holt, Theresa (David) Custer of Leslie, Roberta Marker of Portland, Oregon; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Marker and Mother, Victoria Marker. Lucy graduated from Lansing Catholic Central in 1977 and was a 1981 graduate of Michigan State University. Lucy rehabilitated several Victorian-era homes in her former North Walnut neighborhood near downtown Lansing and her interest in preserving the homes and attention to original architectural detail qualified the projects for Historic Preservation funding. She then successfully managed the houses as rental property for several years. Through the years, when her health permitted, she applied her home renovation skills to the family cottage on Saddlebag Lake, where she enjoyed countless summer days with her family. Lucy loved dogs and Moose and Dexter will also miss her loving attention. She was very creative and did scrapbooks and photo albums with perfection. She was also an avid reader of books. Rest in peace beloved. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at St. Mary Cathedral in Lansing, with visitation one hour prior at the church. Donations can be made to the Capital Area Humane Society. Arrangements by Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
