Donna Lucille Hummel Ranger Sept. 10, 1918 - Dec. 18, 2012 Donna Ranger has joined her beloved husband Max Ranger after 45 years of separation. Mrs. Ranger was born September 10, 1918 to Frank and Mary (Austin) Hummel. She graduated from Carson City High School and Davenport Business Institute. On June 7, 1941 she married Maxwell Ranger, they had one daughter Nancy Ann. Mrs. Ranger worked for Michigan Produce and Crystal Refining Company both located in Carson City. She was at the refinery for 40 years, making many friends and retiring in 1988. She was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church finding comfort, support and friendship with her church family. In 1975, she joined with friends to begin Carson City Garden Club. After her retirement she was an active member in the American Red Cross and a volunteer at the Carson City Hospital for many years. Donna will always be remembered for her cooking, especially her beet pickles, fried chicken, and cookies; and her unfailing love and support of family and friends. Mrs. Ranger was preceded in death by her beloved Max, her parents, her-in-laws Jim and Maude (Boyer) Ranger, her brother and sister-in-law, Clyde "Red" and Sarah Hummel; two brothers-in-law and their wives, John and Flossie Ranger, and Ken and Katherine Ranger; her nephew Wayne Hummel; an infant granddaughter Beth Ann George. She has left behind her daughter, Nancy, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Aaron and Becky George, and children: Gabrielle, Maxwell and Sophia, Fenton, MI; Abigail and Tim Smith and children: Austin, Macy and Matthew, Westphalia, MI; Megan George, Holly, MI; Elizabeth Wilson, Sheridan, WY and Alexander Wilson, Chicago, IL; two nephews Roger and Roxanne Hummel, and Mike and Sally Ranger, devoted friends and neighbors Warren and Sylvia and Theron Eicher, and son-in-law for life Gene George. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2012 at 1p.m. at the Carson City United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Bloomer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Carson City Library. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City.
