Michael Gafford AMARILLO-Michael Mike Gafford went to be with his savior on June 27, 2013. He was 67. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Llano Cemetery with Rev. Greg Kinch officiating. Mike was born on June 6, 1946, in Brownfield to Truman and Lucille Gafford. He was raised in Brownfield, where he graduated from Brownfield High School in 1964 before attending South Plains College. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he spent 1968 to 1969 in Vietnam before his honorable discharge. Upon his return, he farmed in the Brownfield area until 1985, when he began a pest control business with his brother in Lubbock. Mike married Nancy Hayes on July 16, 1999, in Lubbock. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars as well as a devoted member of Southlawn Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Gafford of Amarillo; two stepsons, Freddie Shelton and wife JoDel of Lamar, Colo., and Danny Reid and wife Cathy of Lubbock; and his brother, Jimmy Gafford and wife of Lubbock. I am shocked to learn of Mikes passing. My birthday is june 5th, the last time we spoke on fb. A wonderful person. You will be sorely missed, Mike!

Nancy, I worked with Mike for many years , he worked for Mrs Bairds bakeries, and we would go to the shows and eat out when we could sneak a day off,what a super guy, we'll miss you.
