Anderson, Gary Dee  
Gary Dee Anderson LUBBOCK-Gary Dee Anderson of Lubbock passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at the age of 63. He was born on March 5, 1951, in Amarillo, Texas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam. During his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/DVC 60, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Army Commendation Medal, two Bronze Star Medals, one with valor, as well as receiving a Purple Heart, and 1 O/S Bar. Gary worked as a painter and was a snow cone entrepreneur. In 1984 he married Irene Williams. He was a member of Family Life Fellowship Church in Amarillo. Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, William and Faye Butler of Lubbock; daughter, Jennifer Cruz and husband, Michael of Lubbock; stepdaughter, Michele Dotson and husband, Darren of Yukon, OK; one son, Wesley Dee Anderson and wife, Meghan of Hiroshima, Japan; one sister, Nell Elston and husband, Mack of Lubbock; one brother, Joe Baxter of Oceanside, CA; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Gary was preceded in death by his wife; sister, Kay Turner; and a son, Michael Graham. Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at 2 p.m. in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo. Atkins, Thelma Lois  
Thelma Lois Atkins LUBBOCK-Thelma Lois Atkins was born on March 25, 1913. She passed away on Jan. 16, 2015, at the age of 101, in Lubbock. Thelma was born in Liberty County, Texas to Samuel and Clara Isaacks. She married Buell John Atkins on Jan. 27, 1953. He died on Dec. 26, 1955. She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Floyd, of Lubbock, Texas; and son-in-law, Charles Floyd; two grandsons, John Huckabey (his wife, Cherie), and Justin Huckabey; and two great-grandchildren, Heather and Hunter Huckabey. She was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters. Cremation will be at Combest Funeral Home in Lubbock. Memorial service will be Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Lubbock.

Aurora Morales Ballejo LUBBOCK-Services for Aurora Morales Ballejo, 66, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. on Friday Jan. 23, 2015, at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Interment will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Family will receive friends at 6 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at The Chapels. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Jan. 21, 2015. She was born on Jan. 28, 1948, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to her late parents, Atanacio and Gloria (Garces) Morales. Aurora enjoyed crafts and life's challenges. She worked and conquered any task. Aurora enjoyed working with MHMR. Mrs. Ballejo is survived by her children, Elvira T. Morales, Albert Ballejo, Jr., Christina Anne Ballejo (Marquis Lambert), Jessica Velasquez (Raymond Pierce), Robert Simon Ballejo (Joanna); 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Atanacio Morales, Jr. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Esperanza Ballejo; and sisters, Maria Castillo and Adela Zarazua. The family wishes to express a big thank you to Joe Arrington Cancer Center and Accolade Hospice for their wonderful care.

Baxter, Loraine McCutchin  
Loraine McCutchin Baxter LUBBOCK-Mrs. Loraine McCutchin Baxter, 53, of Lubbock passed away on Jan. 14, 2015. Loraine was born on Jan. 23, 1961, to the parentage of Isaac McCutchin and Berniece Turner Homeed. Loraine attended Lubbock Public Schools and graduated from Estacado High School in 1981. She was employed in various restaurant business positions and took over at Parkway Laundromat for her mother, until her health began to fail. She was a member of Victory in Praise Church where she served as an usher. Loraine was preceded in death by: her parents, Isaac McCutchin and Berniece Turner Homeed; one sister, Lula Mae Matthew; and one brother, Elbert C. Whiteside. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Freddie Baxter; son, Mandra McCutchin (LaTisha); daughters, Bernisha Baxter (Frederick) and Fannisha Baxter (Breshane); seven sisters; one brother; three granddaughters; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Celebration of life services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Greater St. James Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary.
