Bill Green SLATON-Services for Bill Green, 85, of Slaton will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, in Slaton's First Baptist Church with Dr. Cleve Kerby officiating. Burial will follow in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. The family will have a visitation Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Englunds. Bill was born in Slaton on July 1, 1928. He passed from this life July 24, 2013. He was a lifelong resident of Slaton, and attended Slaton High School. Bill served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948. He was hired on the Sante Fe Railroad in 1948 as a brakeman and retired in 1992 as a conductor. He married Cleo Eudy on March 27, 1949, in Turkey, Texas. Cleo preceded him in death May 27, 2008. Bill married Betty Smith on Nov. 22, 2008, in the Westview Baptist Church. He was a member of First Baptist Church, U.T.U., Slaton Masonic Lodge #1094, a Kiva Shriner and a member of the Potawatomi Nation. His survivors include his wife, Betty of the home; daughters, Carol (Bill) Wade of Pampa, Susan (Gerald) Talkmitt of Lubbock, Glenna (Larry) Lemons, and JoEdna (Jerry) Montgomery, all of Slaton; sons, Mike (Tracey) of Slaton, Loyd of Olney, and Randy (Dara) Green of Lufkin; sisters, Joan Green of Dallas, Mary Ruth Gossett of Lubbock, Betty Orr of Slaton, and Venita Womack of Robert Lee; ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren .
