Billy Joe Taylor LUBBOCK - Billy Joe Taylor, 73, of Lubbock went to be with family, friends and most of all his Lord on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012. Going home services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at Agape Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jill Clevenger officiating. Burial will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Visitation with family will be held Wednesday, Jan. 2, in the Chapel from 5-7 p.m. He was born to John Henry and Opal Taylor on April 5, 1939. He married his soul mate, Hazel, on Aug. 31, 1962. They shared 50 wonderful years together. He worked as a carpenter in his teen years up to his recent employment at Texas Tech Museum. Billy Joe built many Lubbock landmarks - the Winchester Theater, the Federal Building, TI, and many schools across Texas. He helped his sons and grandson win many track championships. Race cars, his family and the Lord were the loves of his life. He is a beloved husband, father and Pa to many. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two daughters, Peggy and Brandy. Survivors include his wife, Hazel; children, Patti and Ricky Arthur, Keith Taylor, Jay Taylor, Scott and Mendy Taylor, and Jill and Brian Clevenger; a brother James H. and Shirley Taylor; a sister Jan and David Kelley; and many, many nieces, nephews and cherished friends. He was also blessed with 21 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
